Extracurricular Activities and TaeKwonDo

Our Extracurricular Activities (EC) program begins next Wednesday, October 13th, and will take place each Wednesday from 3:10pm - 3:55pm. There will be seven different 4-week sessions, so that students will have the opportunity to try a range of activities with their friends and with different teachers.

Before the beginning of each 4-week session, homeroom teachers will allow students to choose between three or four options. Once the students have made this choice, rosters will be set and the students will partake in that EC Club for four Wednesdays, before the new range of options is presented again. We will try our best to ensure that students are placed in the group of their first choice.

The first session is October 13th, 20th, 27th, and November 3rd.
Students in Grades One and Two choose one of Film Club, Book Design Club, or Homework Club.
Students in Grades Three to Five choose one of Book Art Club, Computer Club, or Homework Club.
Students in Grades Six to Eight choose one of Life Savers, Film Club, Homework Club, or Korean Paper Making Club.
The homeroom teachers will explain each of these club activities to the students as they are making their choices this week.

TaeKwonDo is a separate option. This year our highly qualified and experienced TaeKwonDo instructor has room in his class for twenty students. Students who elect TaeKwonDo will be in the club for the entire 28-week run of the EC program. That is, choosing to enter TaeKwonDo at the beginning means that students will only do that activity for the whole year; they will not have the opportunity to choose between different activities as the year progresses.

Last year we had more interest in TaeKwonDo than we had spaces available. Parents should email Mr. Altay with their permission for their child to join TaeKwonDo beginning tomorrow morning. The first twenty students will be accepted. There may be a small uniform or equipment fee for TaeKwonDo, and that information will be posted here as soon as it is available.

If you have any questions about the EC program, please do not hesitate to contact your child's homeroom teacher or a school administrator.
